Evelio Figueroa
'00
Grief struck the Binghamton community last February when an off-campus
house fire claimed the life of psychology senior Evelio Figueroa,
23. A study-abroad scholarship has been endowed by family, friends,
students, staff and faculty in honor of Figueroa, who studied at
Ben Gurion University in Israel during his junior year. For

Paul
J. Battaglia '00
Friends and fellow alumni of Paul J. Battaglia '00, who worked on
the 100th floor of Tower One of the World Trade Center, have set
up a scholarship fund in his name. Battaglia was a former general
manager of WHRW, the campus radio station, and winner of the XCELsior
Award for Student Leader of the Year in 1999.
"Paul was one
of those guys who could walk into a room of 50 strangers and walk
out with 50 new friends," said his friend Seth Mates '00.
"His positivity, his charm, his charisma, his personality and his
heart just made you glad to be around him and glad to be alive.
He made the most of his short time on this earth, making everyone
and everything around him better. I think from now on, whenever
I smile, I will think of Paul."
The contact
person for the Paul J. Battaglia Memorial Award fund (Binghamton
University Foundation Account # 1064950) is Brian Napolitano
'00, who asks that all contributions made in Paul's memory be
acknowledged as such, so that they are directly deposited to his
account. Contributions may be mailed to PO Box 6005, Binghamton,
NY 13902-6005.
If you need to contact Brian, you may e-mail him at briannapolitano@yahoo.com
