Alumni Gatherings

Family Weekend a great success

An estimated 1,500 to 2,000 parents, students and other family members enjoyed wonderful weather and a broad range of activities on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20 and 21. The hospitality suite in the University Union's East Lounge buzzed with families chatting over coffee, tea, juice and doughnuts from shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday until well past the official close of 3 p.m., when the special concert conducted by Associate Professor Tim Perry and others began in the Watters Theater. More than 700 enjoyed uplifting music offered by the Harpur Chorale, University Wind Ensemble and Women's Chorus. That evening, many also enjoyed The Firebugs at the Watters Theater and the sparkling piano talent of Antonio Pompa-Baldi, 2001 Van Cliburn Piano Competition silver medalist, in the Anderson Center.
