A living memory...

Fine Arts wing named for first Harpur Dean S. Stewart Gordon

To honor the first dean of Harpur College and its two-time interim president, the east wing of the Fine Arts Building at Binghamton University has been formally named the S. Stewart Gordon Memorial Wing. Family and friends gathered on campus April 27 for a private dedication
ceremony
at the Fine Arts Building. Following the ceremony, an English oak in front of the building's main entrance was planted in Gordon's memory.

The east wing was chosen for the naming because it housed the original administrative offices at the new campus, following Harpur College's move from Endicott to Vestal.

Coupled with naming the wing, a scholarship fund is being endowed in Gordon's honor by members of his family and members of the SUNY-Binghamton Retirees Club. The scholarship fund will primarily support graduate students of English.

Believe in Binghamton

The Campaign for Binghamton University is hot!

To date, more than $32.4 million has been raised toward the campaign's $36 million goal. New scholarships and research grants have been created, new laboratories built and computer networks and multimedia classrooms have been upgraded. But it's been five years since planning for the campaign began, and there are still many needs to be met. Binghamton's excellence rests with the caliber of its students and faculty.
