SEHD holiday party
Binghamton
area School of Education and Human Development alumni celebrated
the holidays at Morey's Restaurant Dec. 6. More than 70 alumni enjoyed
holiday cheer, good food and great door prizes and welcomed the
newest SEHD alumni into their ranks. Dean Ernest Rose updated alumni
on the state of the school and also recognized.
Associate
Dean Ted Rector on being awarded the Chancellor's and University
Award for Excellence in Professional Service.

JAB
hosts first Hanukkah bash and toy drive
After
many requests to have an alumni event during Hanukkah, Jewish Alumni
of Binghamton -- The Cultural Connection (JAB) obliged and agreed
to plan an event for the holiday. But during these difficult times,
JAB wanted to have more than just a party; the group wanted to have
an event that would benefit others as well. So, on Oct. 6, JAB had
its first Hanukkah Bash and Toy Drive at one of New York City's
premier bars and hot spots, The Parlour. The event was free, but
all alumni were asked to bring either a toy or a $5 donation. All
money raised was used to purchase gifts for chronically ill children
during the holidays.
 More
than 100 alumni attended, in high spirits for the holiday season
and eager to celebrate Hanukkah while helping out those less fortunate.
Many mini-reunions took place and others befriended fellow alumni
they met for the first time. And, as a special surprise, JAB gave
out small mementos from the University as gifts to all those in
attendance. "Best
of all," said event organizer Jenni Rosenbaum '98, "through
our alumni's generosity, JAB collected $300 and more than 40 toys
for the children!" Students from Hillel-The Jewish Student Union
were able to raise an additional $200 on campus which also went
towards JAB's toy drive, bringing the total up to $500.
