The role of alumni in attracting bright, talented young men and women to our community of scholars at Binghamton University is significant. Those who have experienced the Binghamton Community can have a critical impact in counseling prospective students and parents about their choices in higher education.

The Alumni Admissions Volunteer Program has more than 1200 active volunteers across the country and abroad. We are hoping that you will want to become one of these "ambassadors" for your alma mater. Listed below are specific ways you can help.

College Fairs
Each year the Admissions Office is invited to hundreds of high schools college fairs and college nights.  The fair is an event where students and families come for more information and typically there are dozens of other schools at an event.  We provide you with an Alumni Volunteer Guide and recruitment materials.  All you need to do is share this material, your thoughts and your positive Binghamton experiences to encourage students to visit campus and apply.

Personalized Outreach
There are many ways we reach out to students.  We need alumni volunteers in selected regions to provide alumni interviews, or offer to draft a letter that can be sent on your firm’s letterhead or a simple email or phone call to a handful of our top admitted students.  This outreach mainly happens in early to mid spring.

Hosting Events
Admissions staff and alumni talk to families often in an informal setting about Binghamton and answer questions.  Alumni have sponsored and hosted programs in their home, place of business or at a local restaurant or meeting place.  As a sponsor, these events are truly yours and you are able to personalize them in many ways.

Speaking Engagements
We would welcome you to return to your alma mater to speak at one of our open house programs in the spring and fall.

New Ventures
You may have an original innovative idea or approach that might work in your area.  We welcome your ideas and we help in making them a reality.  We know you to be of great mind and spirit, and we are open to your proposed initiatives.
