Raymond William O'Connor '51 died Sept. 10, 2003, in Huntsville, Ala. He was 81. A U.S. Navy combat veteran of World War II, Raymond was employed as a financial analyst at IBM Corp. Predeceased by his wife, Jean, Raymond is survived by his daughters, Janet and Joan, and son, Kevin.

George Doyle '52 died Sept. 18, 2003, in Binghamton. He was 76. George taught elementary school in the Union-Endicott School District and was a basketball, football and track coach, as well as president of the Teachers' Association of the Susquehanna Valley School District. An avid golfer, George belonged to the Binghamton Country Club and to the Knights of Columbus and True Sons and Daughters of Erin. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, and four stepchildren.

James F. Romano '69 died Aug. 11, 2003, on Long Island. He was 56. James, longtime curator in the Department of Egyptian, Classical and Ancient Middle Eastern Art at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, had recently finished the reinstallation of the museum's famed Egyptian collection. In 2002 he published In the Fullness of Time: Masterpieces of Egyptian Art from American Collections, a catalog accompanying an exhibition at the Hallie Ford Museum of Willamette University in Salem, Ore. In a profile in the January 2002 issue of Alumni Connect, James said that the most fulfilling aspect of being a curator is helping people to understand Egyptian art Ñ as he put it: Òforcing them to come to grips with the fact that what we call art and exhibit in galleries in cases with spotlights doesn't reflect the way Egyptians viewed these objects. These objects had a function; they were like toasters." James received his MA and PhD in ancient Near Eastern and Egyptian art and archaeology from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. He is survived by his wife, Diana, son, Michael, and daughter, Julia.

Stephen A. Patrick '82 died Aug. 18, 2003. He was 54. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Stephen worked for General Electric at BAE Systems in Westover. He loved kayaking and worked as a river guide for Pocono White Water in Jim Thorpe, Pa. Stephen is survived by his wife, Ellen, son, Douglas, and daughter, Sarah.

Barbara Barnes Exter '83 died Aug. 19, 2003 in Florida. A 1968 graduate of Catholic Central High School, Barbara went on to earn her MBA after attending Binghamton. She worked as an executive who introduced many new and successful policies at TRW in Mesa, Ariz., and at Parker Hannifin in Longwood, Fla. She also helped to establish and volunteered for a middle school reading program. Barbara is survived by her husband, Jim, and son, Ryan.

Scott J. Wolfe '85 died Feb. 12, 2003. He was 39. Scott was a senior systems specialist for Verizon Wireless and worked in the computer field for 16 years. Always a Frisbee enthusiast, he played with Binghamton's Ultimate Frisbee club. For the past seven years, Scott was very active in the Professional Disc Golf Association. "He was a man who lived life out loud, and somehow knew life was precious," said his wife, Julie Morganstern Wolfe '85. May his legacy live on forever. Scott is survived by Julie, a son, Dustin, and daughter, Melody.
