President's message, cont'd...
http://www.bconnectalumni.binghamton.edu The website has been created for us to provide whatever information we desire to share with one another, from home address to e-mail address to business information to personal news. Or, if we wish, we may hide that material from public view and share it with only the Alumni Office. Only Binghamton alumni have access to the website, and it is password protected. I encourage you to review your profile if you have not done so yet, update it, and then follow the directions to hide any data that you decide to keep private. Take advantage of the search function to find alumni by class year, student organizations like WHRW or Pipe Dream, name (first or last) and many other criteria. Members of the Alumni Board who have used the site have found alumni with whom they had lost touch. Make this online directory a valuable tool for all alumni to keep in touch by keeping your profile up to date. Your personal information is protected from unauthorized use, and the information in the Online Directory may be used for personal and University-related purposes only. By the way, you may keep your e-mail address private and still reconnect by using a Binghamton University alumni e-mail address, from which your e-mail will be forwarded to you. For example, my "front" address is joe@alumni.binghamton.edu. We encourage you to take advantage of this service, which is also available as part of the online community. On a final note, Binghamton University welcomes its new Events Center. A $33.1 million facility just over an acre in size, the Events Center will be the site for the University's first Commencement ceremony on campus in 20 years. The center will provide a new way for people to connect on campus, hosting basketball games, concert events and any number of programs that draw a larger audience than the campus was able to accommodate before now. Congratulations to President DeFleur and all those who are responsible for this new venue. -- Joe Bress '66
