September 2006 issue

Homecoming festivities just weeks away!

We've turned the page on our calendar. September is here, and summer is a memory. While that's usually a quiet time on campus, the Alumni Office has been a busy place, and the pace of activity will only pick up.

Staff members and volunteers are hard at work on Homecoming 2006. Scheduled for October 12 to 15, Alumni Reunion Weekend should be filled with events that are sure to be stimulating, enjoyable, and memorable.

SOM grad joins Israeli Army

He has a degree, a Wall Street job he calls "amazing," and his whole life ahead of him. But 22-year-old Jonathan Chariton has put it all on hold to follow his dream and serve in the Israeli army. Is he crazy for making a decision like this, at a time like this?

"Maybe a little bit," says Massapequa native Chariton, who left on August 9 for a Jerusalem youth hostel and army training. He will serve between 14 and 20 months.
