July 1 - Alumni Networking Event - First Friday

     

Despite the heat, fourteen members of the local alumni network gathered at Christ Church to spend some time together and take in the First Friday Art Walk sponsored by the Gorgeous Washington Street Association. Bruce Cameron '88, Barbara Fast '93 and '97 and VyVy Akel '77 greeted alumni and Siusan Orlovsky '93 , and Mary Woolson represented the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations and the Foundation Office respectively.

July 12 - Young Alumni Advisory Council Happy Hour

More than 175 alumni congregated at a New York City hotspot to meet with friends, share some laughs and sponsor the Young Alumni Advisory Council's Scholarship Fund. Coordinated by Nicole Speier '00, the event was attended by Liz MacNeill.

July 24 - Alumni Network Baseball Game - Shea Stadium

Fifty-nine Binghamton Alumni and friends gathered to cheer on the NY Mets as they beat the LA Dodgers by a score of 6 to 0. Guests enjoyed a barbecue lunch and a view from the unique vantage point of the Shea Stadium picnic area. Alumnus, Nelson Mar '94 had an especially exciting time as his brother, Jefferson Mar caught Mike Piazza's home run in the second inning. Dave Berkowitz '00 and staff member Liz MacNeill also attended this exciting event.

August 5 - Alumni Networking Event - First Friday

Christ Church again proved to be an excellent meeting place for the local alumni network. Twenty alumni and friends came by to pick up an association can koosie, meet friends and mingle with other local alumni before heading out to the First Friday Art Walk. Bruce Cameron '88 and Barbara Fast '93 and '97 greeted alumni, including Associate Professor and Interim Dean of SEHD, Bob Carpenter . Siusan Orlovsky '93 , and Mary Woolson represented the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations and the Foundation Office respectively.

August 6 - Spiedie Fest

The Alumni Association joined with the Athletics Department to represent Binghamton University at a tent at the Spiedie Fest in Binghamton. Barbara Fast '93 and '97 and Siusan Orlovsky '93 handed out information, and more than 400 can koosies to both alumni and non-alumni alike.

September 8 - Chicago

 Chicago September 8 - Hirsch Fishman '01 hosted an Alumni Happy Hour at Fadó, a premiere Irish bar in downtown Chicago. Ten alumni met and mingled. Hirsch reported that there were a good range of alumni ('70s, '80s, '90s, and '00s) and everyone had a good time reconnecting and swapping stories of what Binghamton was like during their time there. September 10 - Long Island

    Richard '87 and Sharon '88 Leff hosted a fantastic picnic lunch for Binghamton alumni at their home. With more than 70 in attendance, alumni and their families mingled with old and new alumni friends. Liz MacNeill attended the event and Andy Morris, Associate Director of Admissions spoke to the group about student life today and to answer questions from alumni.

September 27 - Five Wishes

Alumni in the Binghamton area learned more about the Five Wishes program at a meeting in the Chenango Room on the Binghamton University campus. Five Wishes is the first living will that talks about personal, emotional and spiritual needs as well as a patient's medical wishes. Attendees became acquainted at a reception first, then listened to a speaker explain how to adapt the easy-to-use booklet to their own family's needs. A question and answer period followed the speaker.
