John Ros '00 changed directions and decided to pursue art after spending time in the art department at Binghamton University . There, he was influenced by professors such as Angelo Ippolito, Don Demauro and Linda Sokolowski, to name a few. After graduating with a bachelor of fine arts in painting, he was unsure of where to go next. He went to New York City for the summer of 2000, then after a short hiatus working in a small studio on long island, returned to Binghamton to find a new studio and create a new body of work. In August 2001, along with a fellow artist, Ros found an old cigar warehouse to fit the needs of a new studio space. In early 2002, they named their studio "Pocket," hoping the space would function both as a studio and exhibition space. The primary function of the space is to exhibit the spontaneous reaction to daily occurrences and to focus on the interaction between art and the public.
