TAU ALUMNI SOCIETY GOLF CHALLENGE:
June 10, 2004

Tau Alpha Upsilon Alumni Society hosted this event on June 10 at Van Cortlandt Golf Course, Bronx NY. Those in attendance included staff from the Athletic Department and alumni representing the classes of 1969 through 1996. The second annual TAU Golf Challenge coordinated by Brian Segel ’85 and Sanjay Malhotra ‘85 was organized to highlight recent and future fundraising endeavors of the organization as well as some ‘good old fashioned fun’.

Alumni present said the following:

Harvey Kutz '70, "I didn't even know that the TAU Alumni Society existed until I received the invitation. What a great event."

Michael Marcus '87, "This Society has come a long way in a very short period of time. I can't wait until next years event."

Matt Bassett, Senior Associate Athletic Director, "You guys simply ROCK! Great job! Great time!"

Steve Stimell, '84
, " I just want to go home, I'm so tired. I had way too much fun today!"

Segel notes that: “This second annual event brought in more brothers than last years inaugural event. The TAU Alumni Society looks forward to next year’s golf tournament when we expect full capacity.

"The Society" is currently planning the biggest event in the 43-year history of the fraternity for mid to late fall, 2004 at BU. All TAU brothers past AND present will be invited and encouraged to attend.”

Staten Island Send-Off

On Wednesday, July 28, 2004, alumni Tony and Marie Mascolo ‘77 hosted a terrific Summer Send-Off party for new students coming to Binghamton University from Staten Island.

Over 70 students, parents and alumni gathered at The Parsonage on Arthur Kill Road in Staten Island to celebrate. Tony Mascolo, a member of the Binghamton University Alumni Association Board of Directors, showed a DVD he had created comprised of photos and film of university life from the time when he was a student in the 1970’s as well as current photos of the campus. Mascolo’s DVD really captured some of the long-standing traditions of the university.

Vice President for Student Affairs, Rodger Summers spoke and tried to assuage any feelings of anxiety new students and their parents might have during this time of transition. Director of Undergraduate Admissions, Cheryl Brown also spoke about the exciting time that was coming up for the new students. Brown’s speech also assured students and parents that they had made the right decision in selecting Binghamton.

Equinox, a band comprised of Binghamton University alumni Scott Krokoff ‘93, Brett Klein ‘94, Robert Hoff ‘95, and George Dierna ’94 played during the event.
