Cool Alumni Web Sites

Many alumni have created unique and exciting Web sites -- check them out! And if you have a Web site of your own you'd like to have us include in a future issue, click here.

Moodspins

Matt Biscuiti '98 (shown right) took sabbatical from work for a month to work on this eclectic website ezine that includes rants and ramblings on sports, music, movies, poetry and everything else, from to wrestling to politics. Oh, and don't miss the sex advice column or the monthly guest columnists in the "Pop" section. In addition to Matt, who is Moodspins' editor and music columnist, several other alumni contribute to the publication. Chris Biscuiti '01 is the weekend columnist, Nicole Hunt '99 (a.k.a. "Starfish") is the sex/advice columnist, and both Jason Newman '00 and Scott Fynboe '02 ("Scott C") have served as guest "Pop!" columnists (Jason in February and Scott in March). The site is updated weekly and back issues are archived.

Robert McElvaine, MA '71, PhD '74 has created an intriguing home page that reflects his many and varied interests, ranging from his academic background, professional research and publications (he is author of eight books) to his favorite places, music, movies and sports teams -- for starters! It would be possible to spend a whole day exploring the site and its links. A history professor at Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., among other things Robert is a proponent of biohistory, an approach to the analysis and interpretation of history that he discusses in his book Eve's Seed: Biology, the Sexes, and the Course of History (McGraw-Hill, 2001).

Galumpha!

For a mind-bending experience (just in terms of trying to figure out whose arms and legs go where, and how do those guys DO that?), visit the website of Galumpha, a dance company formed in 2002 by Andy Horowitz '89 and Greg O'Brien '86 (both formerly of The Second Hand Dance Company, featured in the Binghamton Alumni Journal in summer 1999). Galumpha "delivers a fast-paced, athletic brand of movement, distinctive for its ingenuity," according to the website -- but you can check out their moves for yourself by viewing the videos in the "Gallery" section. Performers and choreographers Andy and Greg are both Binghamton University Theatre Department artists-in-residence.

Reading with Robin

Robin Kall '85 has created a Web site about her new radio talk radio show, "Reading with Robin!," which she describes as a show about books and the people who love to read and write them." Robin's show includes author interviews, call-in book discussions and publishers' tips. It airs Saturdays from 7 to 8 a.m. at WHJJ 920 AM in Rhode Island. But you don't have to live in Rhode Island to listen to her show -- past interviews will soon be available on her Web site.
