Homecoming
highlights : A Campus Retrospective
Art
Museum : Fine Arts Building

The last
decade has been one of remarkable change for the Binghamton
University campus. From new facilities and expanded academic
programs to the addition of Division I sports and a growing
national reputation, Binghamton University has undergone a
major transition. For nearly 10 years, the photography of
Evangelos Dousmanis '03 captured and defined the image of
the University to itself and to the world. Hired as the University's
first campus-wide photographer, Dousmanis has recorded daily
life as well as the major events that have marked our milestones.
A retrospective of Dousmanis' photography will be on exhibit
at the University Art Museum. A companion book will also be
published. The opening reception is scheduled for Oct. 8,
4-7 pm.
Houston
Person Quartet : Anderson Center Concert Theater
In a reprise
of his spectacular appearance here last year, tenor saxophonist
Houston Person returns to Binghamton University. This time,
he brings his quartet of renowned jazz musicians: Stan Hope,
piano; Per-ola Gadd, bass; and Chip White, drums. "Houston
Person plays beautifully in a warm, honest, uncomplicated
style," notes critic Bill Buchanan. The recipient of a long
list of jazz awards, Person began his solo career in 1961
and has recorded more than 75 albums under his own name. He
has also appeared as a guest artist on the recordings of Etta
Jones, Lena Horne, Lou Rawls, Dakota Staton and many others.
The concert begins at 8 pm on Oct. 9.
