Binghamton's
men's and women's basketball teams will appear on TV four times
during the season as part of the package of America East Conference
coverage. The men's will have three home games televised while the
women will have a road game aired.
In the Binghamton area,
the games will be carried by Empire Sports Network. Binghamton's
men's team will make its first television appearance at 1 p.m. Sunday,
Jan. 26, at home against New Hampshire. The other two televised
games will be at noon against Boston on Sunday, Feb. 9 and against
Northeastern, Sunday, Feb. 23 .
The game against New
Hampshire will mark the first time ever that an athletic event at
West Gym has being televised regionally. Back when Binghamton was
on the NCAA Division III level, WBNG-TV televised some of the men's
games locally.
"This
is a tremendous opportunity to expose our program to all of our
fans, families and potential recruits," head coach Al Walker said.
The Bearcats' women's
team will have its Sunday, Feb. 16 game at Maine televised. Tip
off is scheduled for noon. It will mark the first time that a Binghamton
women's basketball has ever been televised.
"It's an exciting opportunity
for the players and fans," head coach Laurie Kelly said. Some of
the games will also be aired by other networks outside of the Greater
Binghamton region. The New England Sports Network (NESN) will air
the games on January 26, February 9 and February 16. MSG Network
will air the February 9 game and Fox Sports New York will air the
February 23 game.
