Shelly Haven '73 recently presented 40 paintings, etchings and monotypes at a show titled "Color in Nature" at the Thompkins Square Gallery in the New York Public Library. She explored the ever-changing colors and rhythms created by the play of light and time on earth and water. They are notable for their lyrical approach to nature, commented one reviewer. Haven also has work on view at the Binghamton University Art Museum October 21 - December 10 and in an exhibition traveling in India since its 2004 opening at the Indira Ghandi National Center for the Arts in New Delhi. |

Flavia (Saraceni) Huber '85 who began selling her artwork in June of 2004, received the first place ribbon in the category of Nontraditional Photography, Professional , for one of her two works submitted to the New York State Fair's 2005 Photography Exhibition. The second work earned an "honorable mention" in the same category. Huber used a digital camera to capture images of nature and then transforms the images using her computer. Eric Hausler '92 joined Bear, Stearns, & Co. as a managing director. He was previously the senior equity gaming analyst at Susquehanna Financial Group after serving as an associate analyst at Deutsche Bank. He also worked as a member of the equity research gaming team at Bear Stearns from 1999 to 2002. Hausler was named an "Up and Comer" in Institutional Investor's 2004 Best of the Street Equity Research Poll for gaming and lodging, and he also placed 5 th in the Wall Street Journal stock picking survey for Gaming and Lodging in 2004. Previously, he was the government and community relations coordinator for the New Jersey Casino Control Commission.

Dr. Laura Susan Kenefic '92, a research forester for the USDA Forest Service's Northeastern Research Station, was honored recently for her scientific work by the Research Station. She was presented with the "Early-Career Scientist of 2005" award by Station Director Michael T. Rains. Kenefic is a quantitative silviculturist who has contributed significantly to our understanding of the dynamics and characteristics of multi-aged stands of northern hardwoods and conifers. She is a Russian speaker and translator and has assisted joint Russian-American projects to promote sustainable forestry in Central Siberia . |
