William A. Glasser '57 has recently published New Systems for Managing a College (Magna Publications, 2005). Glasser is a higher education consultant and president emeritus of Southern Vermont College and has won two national awards for the new management systems he developed, including how to increase a college's student financial aid offerings, at no additional cost to the college.

Rafe Martin '66 has published Birdwing (Scholastic Publishing, 2005) a young adult book. It is the story of a young man, Ardwin, who has a wing instead of a left arm. He has fallen out of a myth, once could fly, but now must find his way on the ground - like each of us. Marked by difference, Ardwin sets out to discover who he is: bird or boy, crippled or sound, cursed or blessed. The book is edited by Arthur A. Levine who edited all of the Harry Potter books.

Lesley Brill's '67 third book, Crowds, Power, and Transformation in Cinema will appear from Wayne State University Press in early 2006. His first two books, The Hitchcock Romance (Princeton, 1988) and John Huston's Filmmaking ( Cambridge , 1997) remain in print.

Shari Lawrence Pfleeger '70 (Prentice Hall, 2006) published Software Engineering, 3/E, an introduction to software engineering. This introduction to software engineeringand practice addresses both procedural and object-oriented development. It combines theory with real, practical applications by providing an abundance of case studies and examples from the current literature. This revision has been thoroughly updated to reflect significant changes in software engineering, including modeling and agile methods.
Jeffery Ford '79 has published a novel, The Girl in The Glass (Harper Collins, 2005). In the novel, the Great Depression has bound a nation in despair - and only a privileged few have risen above it: the exorbitantly wealthy and the hucksters who feed upon them. Diego, a seventeen-year-old illegal Mexican immigrant, owes his salvation to master grifter Thomas Schell. Together with Schell's gruff and powerful partner, they sail comfortably through hard times, scamming New York 's grieving rich with elaborate, ingeniously staged séances - until an impossible occurrence changes everything. A compelling mystery and evocative portrait of Depression-era New York , the novel is a literary adventure.

 Mallory Curley '79 has published Beatle Pete, Time Traveller (Randy Press, 2005, available throuogh abebooks.com), an offbeat book about original Beatles drummer Pete Best, early Beatles history, and Pete's life after the Beatles. It includes the intriguing story of the Pete Best Combo's 1965 North American tour, as well as a Best family history, plus much more. It is described by the publisher as "a strange and wonderful mix of plot and scholarship," with voluminous footnotes.

    

Paul Herrnson '81 published the Guide to Political Campaigns in America , the first resource to examine and explain every aspect of campaigns in a manner that satisfies the needs of many different audiences. Dr. Jodi Mindell '84 has recently co-authored a parenting book entitled Take Charge of Your Child's Sleep: The All-in_One Resource for Solving Sleep Problems in Kids and Teens. This book provides parents of children ages 3 - 18 with a wealth of information about children's and adolescents' sleep, and ways to solve the sleep problems.
